Join our hosts Don and Lela Avery for an evening at Cady’s Falls Nursery. Don and Lela will speak about what they have been up to these last 30 years. Don will also speak about their simple system they use for rooting soft wood cuttings of woodies and perennials. This system consists of a portable fog unit inside a clear poly tent, inside an unshaded greenhouse. Don will demonstrate how they stick cuttings as well as discuss the mixes and hormones they use. Cuttings are taken in early summer through the fall. Once rooted, the cuttings are moved into a cold storage room attached to the greenhouse. With a series of thermostatically controlled fans, the cold storage room holds near freezing with little or no auxiliary heat. Light refreshments will be provided. Don and Lela have invited anyone interested to picnic in the garden before the meeting begins. Anyone interested in
purchasing plants can do so between 7-8pm; the cash register is closed from 5-7pm.
