The Vermont Nursery & Landscape Association/Green Works would like to invite you to exhibit at our Summer Meeting and Trade Show on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Join us at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn, Shelburne, VT. We expect 100-150 attendees to visit our Show and have set aside time throughout the day for attendees to visit exhibitors.
Exhibitor registration includes full meeting attendance for one representative and includes morning refreshments, lunch, and admission to all presentations. Each registered exhibitor will be provided a banquet table, if requested. The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 4:30 p.m. Register below or please contact the VNLA /Green Works office to register over the phone. The registration deadline is August 3, 2018.
PROGRAM: Our keynote speaker is Dan Jaffe. Dan is the Propagator and Stock Bed Grower at New England Wild Flower Society’s Garden in the Woods. His past experience includes a degree in botany from the University of Maine, an advanced certificate in Native Plant Horticulture and Design from New England Wild Flower Society, and nursery management experience. Prior to his role as propagator Dan spent a year as Plant Sales Coordinator at the Garden after an internship in that same role. Dan Jaffe’s photography has been used in numerous publications and his first book was released in March, 2018. Dan will be giving two presentations – “For Us and Them: Native Plants for Both Us and the Pollinators to Feast Upon” and “Plants are Better than Mulch”.
We will also have a morning presentation “Lyme Disease, the Black-legged Tick, and its Key Ecologcal Factors” with Bill Landesman, a microbiologist at Green Mountain College. Bill maintains two major areas of research: a) the microbial ecology of Lyme disease and b) the biogeography of soil microbial communities. In recent years he has diverted all of his attention to studying the ecological factors affecting the risk of acquiring Lyme disease in Vermont.
After lunch we will hold our annual “Summer Auction” which helps us fund our educational initiatives and programs. Following the auction the afternoon presentations include Dan Jaffe (see above), “Mean Green Products Demonstration on the Lawn”, “What Have We Here? A Round up of Pests and Diseases” and a tour of the Shelburne Farms Inn gardens led by head gardener, Birgit Deeds.
SET-UP: Set-up time is between 7 am – 8 am Wednesday morning. If you would like to make other arrangements please contact Kristina in the office. Registration for attendees begins at 8 am.
EXHIBIT SPACE: Booth spaces are available in the outdoor courtyard space or inside the Coach Barn.
AUCTION: Please consider donating an item(s) to our annual summer auction which helps raise funds for educational programming the Association sponsors.
